Seasons greetings from Ascend! The Ascend Houston family invites you, your friends and loved ones to join us for a fun (and competitive!) evening as we celebrate the end of a noteworthy year. We will be featuring a gingerbread-house-making contest. All attendees are welcome to participate in the live gingerbread-house- making contest (just indicate in the registration form that you will be participating), or to watch others create their masterpieces! Prizes will be given to the top five winners. Wear your favorite ugly Christmas sweater and join in on the fun!

Contest participant rules are as follows:

1. Participants can spend up to a total of $25 (before taxes) on gingerbread house materials, including the kit and any additional decorative candies and supplies. Check out Target, Walmart, Amazon or anywhere else for kits and materials!

2. No part of the gingerbread house may be pre-assembled prior to the event. However, you may take all materials out of their packaging, read instructions and be ready to assemble and decorate before the event starts. You may also pre-make your own icing, if needed.

3. Collaboration is welcome! You may partner up with loved ones, family, and/or friends.

4. A total of 85 minutes will be allotted to assemble and decorate.

5. Come ready with a team name!

Event attendees will participate in judging and determining winners based on the following criteria:

1. Originality and creativity

2. Level of detail (the little things matter!)

3. Proportion and precision (Do pieces look like they’re in the right place? For example, are the sides of the house lopsided? Windows in the right place? Overall, does everything look like they jive together?)

4. Overall appearance and wow factor
